Levittown is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County, New York, on Long Island. It is midway between the villages of Hempstead and Farmingdale. The CDP had a total population of 51,881 as of the 2010 census, making it the most populous CDP in Nassau County and the second most populous CDP on Long Island, trailing only Brentwood.

The district was built as a planned community for returning World War II veterans between 1947 and 1951 by the firm of Levitt & Sons, Inc., which was founded by Abraham Levitt on August 2, 1929. As a result, African American soldiers who wanted to buy a home in Levittown were unable to do so.

Levittown soon became an icon of postwar suburbia as the first and largest mass-produced suburbs. Although Levittown provided affordable housing in what many inhabitants perceived to be a friendly neighborhood, opponents criticized its homogeneity, blandness, and racial exclusivity (the initial lease prohibited rental to non-whites). Today, the word "Levittown" refers to highly sanitized suburbs with virtually identical houses. Similarly, sites such as Long Island's Bayville "Levittown on the Sound" and Fire Island's Dunewood "Levittown on the Bay" have gained names such as "Levittown-of-X" or "Levittown-on-the-X."

The neighborhood has 51,881 people, 17,207 households, and 14,031 families according to the 2010 U.S. Census. The population density per square mile was 7,717.5 (2,978.1/km2). There were 17,447 dwellings at a density of 2,531.9/sq mi (977.0/km2). The CDP was 90% White, 12% Hispanic or Latino of any race, 5.7 percent Asian, 0.8 percent Black, 0.1 percent Native American, and 0.02 percent Pacific Islander.
